Sunday 19 November has been dubbed ‘Ladies Day’ at Stafford Rugby Club when for the first time ever four female teams will play matches at home.

The landmark date will see the 1st XV Stafford Women, 2nd XV Stafford Women, Under 16’s Roses and Under 18’s Roses Panthers all play at home at our Blackberry Lane, Stafford home ground.

The celebration of women at the club will include a raffle to raise funds to support the further development of women’s rugby at Stafford. If you would like to donate a raffle prize, please contact Lisa at Lisaclemson@staffordrugby.com or 07561 231 191.

Paul Smith, Head of Women’s, and Girls Rugby said “We are fortunate to have such amazing facilities with 4 pitches, including an all-weather pitch at Stafford Rugby Club, it’s going to be an immensely proud moment for myself and the club to see 4 of our women’s and girls’ teams all play on the same day at home. Women and girls’ rugby is thriving at Stafford, as we see more and more women and girls taking up the sport. I am immensely proud to have multiple mums and daughters playing in the same team together!”

Last season was a fantastic success for women’s rugby at Stafford, with the 1st XV Women promoted to the NC2 Midlands (West) League, after winning NC3 midlands west league. Our Under 16 Roses won the North regional championship cup, and 3 of our U18 panthers were selected for Worcester Warriors Women’s centre of excellence. This level of success is just the start of the journey to make Stafford the place to be for women’s and girls’ rugby.

If you fancy coming along on Sunday 19th November to support our girls and ladies, games kick off at 2pm.

Stafford Rugby Club offers women and girls the opportunity to play rugby at a level that is suited to them, we have two senior women’s teams and various age groups for our roses section for girls, our training and facilities are second to none. Our training sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7pm-8.30pm, we welcome anyone who would like to have a go at playing rugby, returning to the sport or who may be looking to join a new club.
